Gore, Sierra Club battle WTP in Senate
Global temperatures may be dropping, but the respected political newspapers Congressional Quarterly and Roll Call report the battle over carbon dioxide taxes is getting even hotter.
Two radical Green groups, the Sierra Club and Al Gore’s Repower America, are stepping up the pressure on senators to pass a national carbon dioxide tax. Congress.org reports they’ve launched “”an all-out, bare-knuckled, three-day calling campaign’ to persuade lawmakers to keep cap and trade. In an e-mail, (Gore’s) group told members to seek a carbon limit on ‘all sectors of our economy.’”
While other groups have backed down, Western Tradition Partnership is fighting even harder to save 2.5 million jobs a year.
“On the other end, opponents of cap and trade say the new proposal is too rigid. An emissions cap on power plants is still too broad reaching for them,” Congress.org reports.
“We need to step away from the notion that carbon is an evil and the best way is to raise taxes,” WTP Executive Director Jacob Leis tells Congress.org.
This is the second time in two weeks WTP has been identified as the national leader in the fight to stop carbon taxes and radical environmentalism.
